First of all, the title? a little sexist, considering the creature does only entrance men and heightens the stereotype of women as witches who make men fall to their wiles or whatever
The special effects are meh, which is too be expected. Plus, the acting is better than Star Wars
My biggest problem with this episode is that the plot doesn’t make any sense. In the opening sequence, the 3 men are seeing 3 different women at the same time. However, throughout all the later scenes the creature appears to be a shapeshifter who appears the same to all the people in the room. The creature’s motivations don’t make any sense either. Crater says like 50 times that it’s intelligent and just wants to survive, but its actions don’t match up to that at all. Killing all those people seems completely unnecessary. All it needed to do was pretend to be Crater’s wife and complete their health inspection so they would be given the salt and left alone. If McCoy’s unexplained medical doodad could somehow detect that it wasn’t human, then that wouldn’t have worked, but they never say anything about that. Also, after the creature was exposed, couldn’t the creature just explain, “i need salt to live, can u please give me some”? I mean, it might not have worked, but killing people definitely wouldn’t have. And why did it kill Crater, its only ally? Why didn’t it grab any salt on the ship and then ditch? Why did it talk tons when it was Nancy but then said nothing at all and acted like a total creep as Green? Where does it get those superpowers in the end that it never used in any other instance in the episode? tons of questions
Finally, the relationship with McCoy and Nancy was completely unbelievable. They have a few sentences of obvious exposition in the beginning- he was in love with this girl 10 years ago? And he’s still not over her after she went and married someone else? And then when they need to kill her, in the end, he struggles so much to kill her even after it’s very clear that she is not Nancy and actually some horrendous monster thing. I don’t find that much emotion realistic in the slightest.
